2002 Kawasaki 900 STX Description
With heritage that goes back to 1973, Kawasaki has experience under its belt. That experience shows in this new STX model.
Boasting some tried-and-true engineering features, this three-cylinder three-seater cranks out 100 hp. That would definitely put the 900STX in the performance category. The engine has primary and secondary balance to help cut engine vibration.
The machine also features CV (constant velocity) carburetors, which boost fuel economy and drivability. CV carbs improve low-speed and part-throttle operation. The exhaust system is fully water-jacketed to help reduce noise and run a cooler temperature inside the engine compartment.  The digital DC-CD ignition is waterproof just in case water finds its way inside the hull.
The hull is hand-laid fibreglass with a lustrous gelcoat finish, helping keep the weight down while maintaining strength.  A rear boarding step is a definite plus for tubing or water-skiing. The keel and strakes are designed to reduce wave shock and the large sponsons help the hull plane and provide “grip” during turns.
A “cab-forward” design gives more seating space to the driver and passengers as well as providing a large storage area underneath the hood. Compartments for storage are also located in the front and  rear of the seat. The oil injection system ensures proper oil supply at all engine speeds and the oil goes directly to the carburetor fuel chambers to help fight corrosion.
With comfort as a factor it should be noted that the Kawasaki seats are deeply padded for all-day riding and the figure-style throttle helps reduce hand fatigue. Unique to Kawasaki is the sealed battery, which never needs water and will never spill.
The multi function LCD display on the dash is nicely located and helps keep you informed of all the necessary vitals, for example, indicating low oil, fuel or over-temperature situations, when a warning light will alert you.
As with most watercraft, the reverse lever is located on the right-hand side, but features a locking mechanism which will not allow the  watercraft to slip into reverse accidentally. With a proven background in watercraft manufacturing, Kawasaki delivers performance time and time again.
