2008 Legend 18 Xcalibur Description
Multipurpose is the hype word for boat consumers today. With a fullline
of versatile fishing and familyfun recreational aluminum boats, Legend Boats
    obviously aims to please.
The Legend 18 Xcalibur may not have all the bells and whistles, but the price tag for the boat, motor and trailer package should lure the entrylevel
boater looking for an anything, anytime, anywhere boat.
The well-appointed helm makes for a great spot to log some serious hours. The fold-down pedestal seat does not have a bolster, but is nicely upholstered and has a contoured backrest (as does the passenger seat).    Unfortunately, the lack of armrests on both makes for a bit of an insecure ride at high speeds – especially for the passenger. Some grabrails would be a welcome addition.
Instruments at the helm are well-positioned and easy-to-read in the moulded-in fibreglass instrument panel with inset woodgrain highlights. The high, curved windshield with centre walk-through offers both good visibility and lots of protection. On both consoles there is an open, built-in shelf offering some convenient storage, while valuables can be stowed away in the cavernous lockable glove box.
Nowhere is the versatility of the 18 Xcalibur more pronounced than in the cockpit. A transom bench seat serves double duty as both a wide perch for family rides and a casting platform for a raised aft casting seat when it is folded down. There are two more in-floor casting positions in the cockpit area, which sports EZ Clean Dura- Deck vinyl flooring, textured for some added grip.
For fishing, there is an aerated transom livewell and a livewell in the carpeted bow, where there is a connection available for a trolling motor. A shallow in-floor storage compartment contains rod holders and there are lockable storage compartments on either side of the boat. Although you’d be hard-pressed to stow large towables, there is plenty of room in the cockpit
to bring them along on a family cruise.
With two people in the boat and a half tank of gas, acceleration proved strong with a hole shot of 5.03 seconds and a mid-range (20-30 mph) of
3.0 seconds. The boat planed easily at 3200 rpm and 17.5 mph, and cruised comfortably at around 20 mph and 3500 rpm. The 18 Xcalibur turned confidently both at cruise and top speed, carving its own wake nicely with the 17-degree deep-V hull with reverse chines and extra wide bottom.
With lots of fishing features, plenty of comfortable seating and a full, wraparound windshield, the 18 Xcalibur could be out at the favourite fishing spot at dawn and bombing around the lake with the family later that same
    day.
