Just as the name of the Utopia 205 SE would suggest, Sea-Doo is striving for perfection with this luxurious addition to its 2008 line. Boasting a long list of features, the 205 SE offers comfort and style without sacrificing performance.
Entering the boat from aft, the integrated swim platform with two-step ladder for easy reboarding gives way to a large sun deck for lazy days spent lying in the summer rays. The latter hides the trunk, where you can store the
Bimini top that comes standard with the SE package out of the way.
Keeping the Bimini in an easy-to-access compartment will mean youre always only a moment away from the shade. With the removable table in place, the 205s spacious cockpit becomes a great spot for an al fresco lunch. Plush upholstery covers the padded gunwales and the seating throughout both the cockpit and the bow, including the particularly innovative buddy passenger seat combo. When turned to face starboard, this creates a large Lshaped lounge when combined with the transom bench seat.
Although more than adequately equipped for entertaining with such touches as mouldedin beverage holders, the Utopia 205 SE will be great for watersports with ski tow eye, optional tower and 43 cubic feet of storage, including an in-floor ski locker.
Added touches bring this sport boat to a whole new level. Features include chrome cleats, non-skid decking, non-slip grab handles, snap-in carpeting, backlit depth sounder and cockpit courtesy lights. The full glass windshield
also boasts a large walkthrough area.
The helm is comfortable and functional with easy-to-read full instrumentation on a stylish dash and a slide and swivel upholstered bucket seat. The Jensen audio system with satellite-ready AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 port is mounted in front of the passenger, but the SE package includes a stereo remote. Also part of the SE package is a burlwood inserted steering wheel.
Out on the water, the Utopia 205 SE definitely has the fun factor of a jet engine. At the same time, the Sea-Doo direct drive propulsion system keeps the boat very responsive throughout the entire range. The boat was extremely
fast to plane, keeping nice and level for good visibility. It positively sprinted from idle to 20 mph in just under two seconds and popped out of the hole to 30 mph in a mere three seconds. The 205 SE tracked well, and rode confidently and smoothly.
