2008 Doral 210 Sunquest Description
Have you been driving the same cottage runabout around your lake for years, dreaming of upgrading? With gas prices at recordbreaking highs and a microscope on the environment, there’s no better reason to get a new boat – which will likely come equipped with a new fuel-efficient and more eco-friendly engine attached.
If I’ve convinced you to get into the market for a new bowrider, Doral has a great boat for you. The 210 Sunquest offers quality workmanship (all hardware is 316 stainless steel) and a list of standard features that make it perfect as an allaround boat for sunbathing, watersports, swimming, or simply entertaining family and friends.
Since manufacturers have to fit both form and function into a relatively limited space on boats in this size category, designing a great bowrider is no small matter. Doral has hit the right stride with its 210, which offers style, space, comfort and practicality.
The boat definitely lends itself to play, with the large integrated swim platform and large aft sunpad. Our test boat also featured the optional extended swim platform with pop-up cleats and four-step swim ladder, sure to make the transom party central. And at the end of the day the wet locker on the integrated portion allows you to store wet tow lines and other gear out of the way.
The sunpad with walk-thru doubles as the engine hatch, which rises easily thanks to gas-assisted struts. The centre stern bench in the cockpit also flips forward for additional access for easy service.
A large U-shaped lounge fills the cockpit area on the 210 Sunquest. Our test boat also featured the optional fibreglass table with integrated cup holders, which makes this a great spot to have lunch or play a game of cards if rafted or anchored for an afternoon. The optional snap-in carpeting adds to the comfort for entertaining and under seat storage means lots of room to stow away all the necessary items to keep everyone happy during a day spent on the water.
The huge under floor locker forward has plenty of space to store kneeboards, wakeboards, and other water toys – especially necessary if you opt for the optional wake tower.
The wide curved glass walk-thru windshield leads to the spacious bow area, where two large comfortable bow seats offer plenty of room to stretch out and additional storage underneath. Grab rails and integrated cup holders are at the ready for when this boat gets up and going. The optional bow filler cushion would be a neat addition to create another spot onboard for sunbathers to lay back and soak in the rays. A non-skid step-up at the bow also allows for easy exit forward.
On the 210 Sunquest test boat, the passenger console featured the optional sink with pressure water, glove box with socket inside, and a stainless cup holder. The bolstered bucket seat is plush and swivelled in order to allow for a rear-facing spotter or front-facing companion.
The helm on the 210 also features a deluxe bolstered swivel seat, offering a nice clear view through the windshield. A stylish three-spoke, tilt sport steering wheel and carbon fibre dash comes standard on the boat, with the gauges all tucked under a brow that will help reduce glare on really sunny days. All the gauges are placed in plain view for the driver, including the standard digital depth gauge.
Also standard on this boat is a Clarion AM/FM stereo with CD player, four speakers and auxiliary input. If you plan to entertain and like the tunes while riding the waves, optional upgrades on the stereo include Sirius satellite radio, subwoofer and amplifier, six-disc CD changer, and transom radio remote. A VHF radio with antenna and compass are also available.
We tested the boat at the Doral dealer meeting last summer, so there was some pretty good chop from the various boats out on the water. The 210 Sunquest delivered a solid dry ride, with the cushioned seats absorbing much of the thumping the water was throwing at us. The boat jumped out of the hole quickly, reaching 20 mph in just over three seconds – great for getting skiers and wakeboarders up and out of the water. At wide open throttle, this peppy bowrider reached 53.6 mph at 5800 rpm. One thing’s for sure, those grab rails may come in handy.
Overall, the sleek and stylish Doral 210 Sunquest is a great choice for someone looking to upgrade their current boat or hoping to purchase a versatile luxury bowrider.
