Typically, a pontoon boat has been geared towards those who want to slow down and relax on the water. But the Sweetwater 2186 RE3 Sport is NOT your typical pontoon boat. Equipped with an Evinrude 90-hp E-Tec outboard, you can also be sure it wont slow down either.
Sitting down at the helm of the 2186 RE3 Sport, I was well-equipped with all my test gear, but soon realized I had forgot something a group of friends to help me REALLY test this toon.
Looking around, it was clear there would have been room for up to nine of my nearest and dearest. They would have been seated comfortably in Sweetwaters spacious lounge and the GX48 Vinyl could have handled any abuse.
There would have been plenty of storage under the seats for all their gear, as well as an under seat cooler in the aft lounge for food and drinks. The little ones could have easily moved around the open concept bow, while the adults chatted around the ice bucket table at the stern.
Out on the water, my guests would have had no problem swimming about and the rear-entry ladder that the 2186 gets its name from would have been perfect for them all to re-board, only to jump back in again. For those needing to change, the changing room at the stern with hoop curtain would have fit the bill nicely.
They also would have been impressed with the 2186 RE3 Sports performance as the 90-hp two-stroke, assisted by the lifting strikes, brought us on plane in just over five seconds, and how the 25-inch diameter centre pontoon provided superior performance and handling. In turns, they would have commented how the V-keel helped the Sweetwater track, and how little it banked. They wouldnt have to yell either as the E-Tec purred a quiet 86 dbA at cruise.
But, alas, I forgot my friends, so dont make the same mistake I did. Bring along as many as you can in the Sweetwater 2186 RE3 Sport and enjoy your day on the water together pontoon-style.
