Michigan-based FourWinns began as a family-owned business over 35 years. Since joining Genmar in 2001, the company has grown into one of the worlds largest manufacturers of fibreglass recreational products with boats ranging from 18-foot bowriders to 45-foot cruisers.
Our test boat was the fully loaded 210 Horizon SS, powered by the new 320-hpMerCruiser 377MAG coupled to a Bravo One drive. This power plant pushed the 210SS to a top speed of 53 mph, feeling both nimble and stable over the waves.
At a glance, the boat exemplifies fun with sport graphics, switchable side through-hull exhaust, stainless docking lights and the tower/arch package. Lights, speakers, stainless spinning board racks and an integrated Bimini top populate the tower, but I was respectful and didnt blast the premium sound system too much out on the lake even with a 10-inch subwoofer.
The extended swim platform featured FourWinns infamous deep reach folding boarding ladder and a non-slip mat, which protects both the boat and the board. The already large sunpad gets even larger when the rear bench is folded flat and the removable snap-in carpet makes the aftermath from the beach a breeze to clean up.
The matching captains chairs feature a flip-up bolster and accessible swivel adjustment controls. The helm takes on a classic appearance with wood trim panels and top stitch-style vinyl detailing complete with an array of Faria gauges, stainless push button accessory switches and a convenient tray for cell phones and/orMP3 players.
The tinted low-profile windshield has great curb appeal and provides excellent visibility, albeit leaving me a little exposed to the elements. A wide walk-through leads to the bow seating area, which offers ample space for friends, modular filler cushions, stereo speakers and a forward boarding ladder concealed in the anchor locker.
As a sport boat, the FourWinns 210SS was a blast to drive. However, if you are serious about watersports, the single prop is the only available configuration and a Bravo Three twin prop would improve its towing capacity.
Although it could use a little more storage, if you are looking for a value-added family bowrider that will satisfy a need for speed and entertain your eight closest friends with an armada of bells and whistles, than look no further.
