As a kid I can remember getting up early to go fishing with my grandfather, and listening to his stories as we trolled all over the lake often with no catches to show for our efforts. Its this type of quality family time that makes fishing a popular pastime. Realizing this, Sylvan Boats has translated it into their various models.
The Expedition Sport 1800 DC is made for the serious fishing family that also enjoys buzzing around the lake for fun. The 1800 DC features a long list of fish-friendly features, including two livewells (one in the bow and a larger one in the stern), a baitwell, trolling motor plug-ins and storage pretty much everywhere you look. The interior is carpeted throughout, which really cuts down on noise, and the curved walk-thru windshield adds form and function.
The two pedestal seats are comfortable for those long trips and there are six bases throughout the Expedition to interchange or add more seating.When you do hook that big one, you can be sure the carpeted interior backed by a five-year warranty will stand up to any abuse.
Aluminum family boats have also become popular because they offer great performance. With the 150-hp Yamaha four stroke on our test boat, the fuel economy is even better. Cruising at 3500 rpm, I clocked a speed of 26.9 mph and the interior was a very quiet 89 dbA. Handling on the 1800 DC was smooth and predictable, perfect for buzzing in and out of bays. And if your favourite spot is down the lake, the top speed of 54 mph at 5800 rpm will get you there in no time, leaving plenty of gas to get back home.
At an inch over 18 feet, the Sylvan Expedition Sport 1800 DC looks perfect in the driveway, but would also be a welcome addition to the cottage dock. These light boats are easy on your transmission for weekend fishing trips, and are perfect for bringing the family closer together.
