2007 Cruisers Yachts 300 CXi Description
The Cruisers 300 CXi is a great way to

    get into the cruising lifestyle.

New for 2007, this model is 31 feet on

a generous 10-foot beam. Cruisers starts with

twin Volvo 225 hp, fuel-injected sterndrives and

quite the list of standard features. There is standard

heat and A/C, automatic fire extinguishing,

Bimini top and side curtains, carbon monoxide

detectors, an electric head and plenty more.

The 300 CXi has a fully enclosed head, as

well as a handheld shower in the cockpit, a wet

bar, stainless steel hot water system, remote-control

spotlight - even a flat screen television and

DVD system in the salon. For the new cruising

family, the 300 CXi has everything you'll need to

make those first experiences a real pleasure.

Most of the day cruising is spent above

decks, where the 300 has a full-width swim platform,

boarding ladder and big boat features like

a fender basket and transom locker for power

    connections, phone and TV.

    Maximizing cockpit and interior space,

Cruisers eliminated the side decks and gives you

    a walk-through windshield. There is a double

helm seat, companion seat with angled backrest

for suntanning and a conversation area with a

removable picnic table perfect for a family lunch.

The 300 CXi also features two big sun pads

on the forward deck, where there is an anchor,

roller and even an electric windlass.

The Cruisers 300 includes a large sliding

cabin door with screen. The galley is to port

with four lockers and fiddles on the counters,

and comes equipped with a single-burner ceramic

stove, microwave, Norcold fridge and an

    impressively large sink.

The forward stateroom features a large deck

hatch and opening screened portholes, as well as

a shaped berth with storage underneath plus a

    six-inch thick foam mattresses.

The enclosed head has a fibreglass floor for

easy maintenance, a large mirror and fair space,

but I wish it had a porthole for ventilation.

The Cruisers 300 CXi will be a real treat for

the captain. You'll enjoy a comfortable helm seat

and full array of analog gauges. Best of all, the

300 is ready to launch with a standard electronics

    package, including VHF radio, depth

sounder and colour GPS chart plotter.

The 4.3-litre Volvos, which produce 225 hp

each, are smooth and quiet. The test boat had

    14.5 x 17 four-blade propellers for added

smoothness. With no load and half a tank of

fuel, we reached planing speeds in 8.5 seconds.

At 3500 rpm, we were planed off doing 19.9

mph, but you'll probably want to cruise the 300

CXi a little bit faster. At 4000 rpm, the speed

really picks up to almost 30 and our test boat

topped out at 39 mph turning 5000 rpm. You

could certainly beat a storm back to port at that

    rate.

The Cruisers 300 CXi feels like it rides high

and smooth. Although it heels over dramatically

in a tight turn, it then hangs on with no evidence

of cavitation with the four-blade props.

Overall, I found the boat was fun and sporty.

The 16-degree deadrise V hull provides a good

compromise between smooth ride and support

at planing speeds. Also, if you're carrying a big

load of family and gear, you can always invoke

the standard equipment trim tabs to keep the

bow down and the boat planed off as you go.

This Cruisers 300 CXi has everything you

need to get started in the cruising lifestyle.
