2007 Sea Doo Sportboat Speedster 200 Description

There is only one word to describe time
spent in the 2007 Sea-Doo Speedster
200: FUN!
And the fun factor only gets more adrenalinefilled
when equipped, as our test boat was, with
Twin Rotax 215 hp, supercharged, intercooled
engines.
With 430 hp of power behind it, this sportboat
definitely earns its "Speedster" name, leaping
out of the hole to 20 mph in 2.56 seconds and
reaching 30 mph from idle in a mere 4.23 seconds.
Although the Speedster 200 accelerates lightning
fast at all speeds up to its top end of 57 mph,
it planes a little slower than expected at 19 mph
and about 3900 rpm.
Next to hole shot, the Speedster 200's most
noteworthy performance feature is its turning
radius. It handled precisely and aggressively, turning
on a dime, with the manoeuvrability made
possible by its direct drive propulsion system. This
also allows the 200 to complete impressive
manoeuvres and venture into areas you can't get
into with a boat with a propeller. Any boater not
used to jet drive, however, should plan on a period
of adjustment - the feel of it is quite different from
outboards or I/Os.
But what good would sportboat handling be
without sportboat style? The Sea-Doo 200 has lots
of sporty flair with impressive lines, sleek and
multi-functional aluminum rails, and all-new
graphics.
The first thing you'll notice once at the helm is
the absence of a full windshield. Instead, the 200
has a windscreen with pop-up wind deflector.
Although this does not offer much protection
from the elements, it definitely helps to heighten
the thrill of the ride and adds to the overall sportboat
feel. The full instrumentation dash is very
readable and a Clarion AM/FM CD stereo
ensures the tunes keep pumping for added entertainment.
Underneath the helm is convenient storage,
including a built-in ice cooler to store beverages
and food for the trip.
Besides the helm space, the Speedster 200
offers plenty of dry, secure storage, with 46 cubic
feet of total storage capacity. Storage spaces are
tucked away under the bow seats, a bow storage
area big enough for a person to crawl into, an infloor
ski locker provides storage for a wide assortment
of water toys and accessories, and dual rear
storage compartments under the transom sun pad
ensures no gear has to be left on shore. This is
great, especially if you choose to include the
optional wakeboard tower like our test boat.
In fact, if playing on the water is your thing,
the Speedster 200 offers lots of great features. A
pull-up ski pylon provides a convenient rope
attachment for towing, while a rear integrated
swim platform with two-step ladder will make for
easy and comfortable reboarding, especially in deep
water.
And when a long day of fun and excitement
finally comes to an end, cockpit courtesy lights
provide indirect lighting for all those passengers
that will be fighting for a chance to ride.
With impressive performance and loads of
style, any thrill-seeker would be living for the
weekend with the 2007 Sea-Doo Speedster 200.
… but you may want to give your less adventurous
friends a bit of a heads up before hitting the
water.
