2007 Harbercraft 1875 Whitewater JMAX Description
    Harbercraft's new 1875 Whitewater

JMAX is a top performing jet boat

    destined to impress even dyed-in-thewool

jet boaters. The 18-foot, fully welded aluminum

boat has everything a fisherman could

want - speed, manoeuvrability and a very shallow

    draft.

Craftsmen in the Vernon, B.C., plant have

put the usual Harbercraft quality in this boat.

The 1875 is fully welded using plasma-cut to

take advantage of the company's patented Pre-

Flex technology. Each piece is arched toward the

load to make the hull stronger and reduce its

    weight.

This has made the 1875 the first, heavygauge,

    welded-aluminum boat to gain an

NMMA certification. Because of this, all of

Harbercraft's boats have received the certification.

Features included on the Whitewater 1875

JMAX include welded stainless grab rails, five

welded bow and stern cleats, anchor rope jamb

cleat, stainless bow and stern eyes, and two cup

holders. The instrument package includes a set

of fuel, voltage and tach gauges. A single-lever

throttle and shift control lets the driver operate

the boat easily, allowing him to concentrate on

    actually driving.

The boat has a recessed fishing platform in

the bow with storage below it. A step-through

windshield and bridge deck follows this. You

step onto the bridge deck from a reinforced

locker between the driver and passenger's seats.

Seating in the 1875 consists of two

Fishmaster seats for the driver and his passenger.

These seats swivel to face the rear of the boat,

where two inward-facing passenger seats are

located right behind the steering console.

Built into the motor cover are three upright

rod holders. There are also ten rod holders located

in the carpeted side storage areas. The cockpit

deck is covered with marine-grade vinyl flooring.

    A four-cylinder Yamaha, adapted from a

Yamaha sport boat, provides power for the

    Harbercraft Whitewater 1875 JMAX. The

engine has been re-christened the JMAX MRI

    165. It is a 165-horsepower, four-stroke aluminum

    motor.

Normally, Harbercraft's line of jet craft boats

uses Mercury engines and jet pumps, but consumer

research indicated there was a market for

a smaller four-cylinder propulsion system. It also

uses Harbercraft's EZ Clean system for cleaning

    out the jet pump intake.

The 1875 was designed by Harbercraft staff

over a period of three years to offer a smaller

    engine.

This smaller engine changes the balance of

the boat, making the designers shift the engine

compartment forward and develop a full-length,

reverse-chine in the hull to create additional lift.

By going to the smaller engine and more

efficient hull, the 1875 performs very well with a

substantial fuel saving. Tests conducted by

Harbercraft engineers resulted in a 20 per cent

reduction in fuel consumption without sacrificing

    speed.

In tests on the Shuswap River in B.C., the

1875 performed very well. We were able to

achieve a speed of better than 40 mph consistently

over five test runs, and the boat reached

plane in five seconds on average.

In addition, moving the engine toward the

front of the boat has allowed the designers to

make a walk-through behind the engine compartment,

    which fishermen will like.

Noise is not a problem with this boat. The

engine is very quiet, allowing for conversation in

    normal levels at all times.

    The Harbercraft 1875 Whitewater JMAX

comes with a custom-welded, galvanized bunk

    trailer.
