2010 G3 Boats V175 Fs Test Details

When R&D dollars get tight – and they are these days – some manufacturers opt for cheap and cheerful, but highly visible changes to new model year boats.

With its 2010 V175 FS, G3 takes the opposite approach by designing a completely new hull with changes that are hard to see but make a big difference in performance and capability.

Part of the Angler series, the new V175 FS is aimed at boaters who plan to venture onto large

rivers or lakes. At first glance, it does not look much different from the old V175 FS, but specifications

start to tell the real story.

The new boat’s riveted aluminum hull is an inch longer and two inches wider. It also has a 25- inch transom (five inches higher than its predecessor), higher topsides, and improved strake size and placement. The changes combine to produce improved bow lift, added stability and better sea-handling, especially in bigger waves and following seas.

In late fall testing, the boat tops out at 39.5 mph at 5800 rpm, powered by a Yamaha F115 four-stroke. Increasing the engine size to the 150-hp maximum brings top speeds over 50 mph.

But for most fishing and watersports applications, the 115 works fine. The test boat is solidly on plane at 20 mph and cruises nicely between 25 and 30 mph.

The boat is well-equipped for fishing, with livewells and a portside coaming locker that holds at least seven fishing rods. The tall windscreen does a good job of breaking the wind and the canvas top stores out of the way on board.

With the aft jump seats folded down and an insert in place in the bow, there are two spacious carpeted casting platforms, with sockets for swivelling seats. In the bow, wiring for a trolling motor is pre-rigged. Sensible, easy-clean vinyl flooring is installed in the cockpit.

To move into sport mode and prepare for added passengers, wakeboarders or water-skiers, the bow insert can be removed and cushions installed. In the cockpit, jump seats fold back from the aft casting platform. The swim deck and boarding ladder to starboard of the outboard are ready.

In either mode, the new V175 FS looks good enough for the most style-conscious angler or family boater. But when waves and wind rise, the new design will prove its worth.

About G3 Boats

At G3 boats, building the best quality, best value fishing and pontoon boats in the marine industry is no accident. As a Yamaha boat Company, we strive for excellence in all of our research, manufacturing and testing processes. We also believe that a total team approach in our Lebanon, Missouri facility gives us the best opportunity for success.

How do we measure our success? It is measured with consumer satisfaction and by answering this simple question, "Does our product line give our customers the quality, features and performance they deserve for their money?"

Features like welded construction using the highest-grade .100 gauge marine aluminum. Unihull designs for a stronger, more stable craft from bow to stern. The 'New Generation Hull' for superior performance on all G3 boats. Our exclusive GX2 double-plated V-Hull designs. Interior designs specifically engineered for comfort and performance. Reliable custom-built powder-coated trailers and legendary outboard power by Yamaha. Not to mention striking graphics and luxurious upholstery. First-class attention to detail throughout adds up to the best value on the water.

And the success of G3 boats is measured by your own friends and neighbors. Boaters like you who might own an HP high performance boat, Sun Catcher Pontoon or Gator Tough Jon, as G3 boats has been one of the fastest growing aluminum marine manufacturers in the country for the last five years straight.

Our family of craftsman - from the manufacturing floor to the management staff - are fishermen, just like our customers. Fishermen, who believe in testing and re-testing every component thoroughly before proceeding to the next step and always striving for excellence.

It's all part of the G3 boats advantage and can be found in every component we manufacture. Plus, when you purchase a new boat, motor and trailer as a package, you will be reimbursed for your resident freshwater fishing license for the first three years you own your G3 boat package.

We encourage you to compare quality, price and features available in any other aluminum boat line and then take a look at G3 boats. You won't find better fishing partners than G3 boats and Yamaha.

Quality of G3 boats

A quality boat calls for a quality outboard. And Yamaha is the benchmark by which outboard excellence is measured. Proven technology like advanced microcomputer ignition and Yamaha's state-of-the-art anti-corrosion protection system provides outstanding reliability and dependability day in and day out.

Yamaha just can't leave well enough alone. It continues to reach unprecedented levels of power and performance and then finds ways to take them even higher. Yamaha's OX66 Advanced Fuel Injection Technology, for example, led the way to its new HPDI (High Pressure Direct Injection), which swept the industry's innovation awards. And Yamaha's expanding series of compact and lightweight four-stroke outboards is becoming the preferred choice of more and more anglers, thanks to its clean, quiet, and fuel-efficient performance. When you want the best, look for Yamaha. It's the power behind every G3 boat.
