2001 Silverton 410 Sports Bridge Description
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Silverton set the standard when it in-troduced its SideWalk series yachts several years ago. By building in steps up to the bridge on the foredeck and doing away completely with traditional walkarounds, Silverton opened up a whole new universe for boat design and boat designers to borrow from: beam-to-beam living in the salon.     With its 410 Sports Bridge, Silverton has raised the bar again. The full-beam design concept incorporates a des-cending walkway down from the bridge, which allows for a sleeker, raked and much sportier look. For those who like their main staterooms up front along with the guest cabins, this sports bridge does it up right.
Up on the bridge you’ll find a redesigned captain’s seat that’s comfortable, contemporary and functional. Overall, the bridge is large and sociable with a cushion pad over the hard top for sunning and a bench seat behind the extra-wide captain’s seat.
The walkway to the foredeck is easily large enough to stand with feet side by side. Adding to the sports touch are deck pads accompanied nicely by handy drink holders.
But it’s in the salon that this Silverton makes its big move. With its big, wide com-fortable reclining easy chair and sectional sofa/bed postion-ed across from a centre-positioned recessed entertainment centre and a couple of bar stools and ledge, you feel in-stantly at home and pampered.
The galley and wraparound table are just as enticing. Raised two steps, the galley is surrounded by windows and is equipped with all the standard items found in this class of boat: a full-size refrigerator, Corian counters and built-in microwave and coffeemaker.
In the cabin areas below, the warm feel of the cherry wood is heightened by a complete lack of right angles. Everything is rounded or curved, from the doors to the hallway, dinette, even the bar.
The 410 positions the shower and washroom on either side of the sliding door to the main stateroom. There’s storage inside an elevated bed and in cedar-lined lockers to either side. This 410 had a well-positioned TV/VCR on a curved wraparound ledge next to the bed and was well-lit by a large Bomar hatch and a side portals. The mid-cabin, locked beneath the raised galley, also has a large bed with plenty of headroom.
This 410 came to the plate with twin 3125 Caterpillar diesels putting out 420 hp. As one would expect, the sport bridge design, coupled with CAT power helped give this latest Silverton family yacht brawn to match its 21st-century design.
